A new home, a shed, and too many possessions...

I have moved and I have found that my possessions far outweigh my available space...  Even with the shed you see in my backyard, I am overwhelmed by the clutter and lack of space.  My room has my bed in one corner and a small footpath around it.  The rest is boxes.  It looks more like a storage space than a bedroom!  I have decided to try and reduce the amount of stuff I own that I no longer need or use.

As an artist and a lover of art, books, and clothing, I have no illusions that I will ever have a home that is sparse with content, but I feel compelled to make the attempt to do better then I am currently doing!  I hope to make updates to this blog as I progress...

I've also created a twitter account which will be linked in content and theme here.

...I know exactly what you mean. My room is the same at the moment too!

    1. Hi Vix,
I've been slacking a bit in the reduction of stuff portion of my days... Definitely need to get back to it though, thanks for the reminder!

  2. I need to do better, but it's so easy to put it off for other things... Thank you Rajesh for the empathy.

  3. Lisa, as someone who has moved many times during my life and gotten rid of tons of "stuff" with every move, it always mysteriously reappears for the next move : )
But I have learned to save less over the years and I decided I will never use my attic space...if I would put it in the attic, then I don't need it : )

  4. Thank you Gail. Before I moved I gave away truckloads of stuff (well pick-up truck loads, not moving van truck loads) and found I still have too much stuff! Congratulations on saving less and on your decision not to use your attic space! I aspire to not needing more storage space :).

  5. It's hard, but we moved across country and I had to part with most of my stuff. I've kept my belongings to only what I really need since then, I actually prefer it this way now. :)

    1. I think it is hard, there are so many things I'd rather do than try to address this issue! I'm glad to hear it's possible and also glad that you prefer your less stuff encumbered lifestyle.

  6. I'm in a similar position and constantly looking for things to pass along to someone else. But then I make a trip to the States...and yard sales...and bring home more than I've given away! Oh well!

    1. It's definitely a challenge, I've made some trips to donate since making this post, but I still need to do better. This month has been very art intensive for me, but I'm hoping to put more of a focus on trying to make my room liveable next month... Although since working on that is one of my least favorite things and painting is one of my most favorite, well, good intentions and all of that...
